What Will You Be Doing?
Friday, July 21, 2023:
Our Group will meet at Toronto International Airport to board our 9:00pm flight to Reykjavik International Airport. It wil be a 6 hour flight to our destination.
Saturday, July 22, 2023:
Once we arrive in Reykjavik at 6:30am. We will board a private charter that will drive us through the beautiful Iceland countryside to Hella Once in the beautiful town of Hella, we will check into our huts at Arhus Campgrounds and have a little time to explore before dinner. After an early dinner we will begin planning and packing our backpacks for our four day adventure on the Laugavegur trail. As you will most likely be very tired from a long day and the flight, we will head to bed early and get a good nights rest to start the trail the next day.
Sunday, July 23, 2023:
We will rise bright and early, grab our packs and walk over to the diner for a big breakfast and then hop the bus to Landmannalaugar and the trail head. At Landmannalaugar, we will have a few hours to see the sites and check out the shops before we have a quick bite to eat and head out onto the trail. The first leg of our journey will be a challenging one at a distance of 12km. Our day will end at Camp Hrafntinnusker, which is the highest point on the trail and the top of an extinct volcano.
Monday, July 24, 2023
Today is a short day, and downhill most of the day, which means we can sleep in a little and have a good camp breakfast. We will then begin our 12km trek to our next campsite at the Alftavatn Huts. Again you will have access to bathrooms and paid showers. After dinner we will relax and head to bed early for the longer day ahead tomorrow. You may choose to use the public showers for a small fee.
Tuesday, July 25, 2023:
On this morning, we will get an early rise and start breakfast. After a good breakfast, we will pack up and head out on our 15km trek for the day. Finishing the day at the Emstrur-Botnar Hut, again we will set up camp, and start dinner. After dinner, we will take some time to explore the nearby scenery and canyons. It will be another early night, as our 4th and final day will be a long 16km trek.
Wednesday, July 26, 2023:
An early rise will give us a head start after a good camp breakfast. We will pack up camp and head out on our final day that will consist of 16kms to make it to our bus. The final leg will take us to Thorsmork, where will have just enough time to grab a quick dinner and clean up before jumping on the bus back to Hella. Once we arrive in Hella, we will again check into the huts at Arhus Campgrounds. You will have a chance to clean up before heading over to the local pub to celebrate the completion of our trek!
Thursday, July 27 & Friday, July 28, 2023:
These are our relax and explore days. From the campgrounds, there are many places within walking distance to explore, so we will pack up our day packs and head out to check out the local scenery. You may also want to check out local shops and do some souvenir shopping. These days are yours to do whatever you like.
Saturday, July 29, 2023:
We will check out of Arhus, and grab breakfast at the local diner before boarding our private bus back to Reykjavik International Airport. After clearing customs and a short wait, we will board our bus at 9:00pm GMT and start our 6 hour journey home. We will arrive at Toronto International Airport for 10:15pm.
