What Will You Be Doing?

Monday, July 7, 2025:

Our Group will meet at Toronto International Airport to board our 11:00pm flight to Reykjavik International Airport, Iceland. It will be a 6 hour red eye flight to our destination. So it's best to catch some Z's on the flight.

Tuesday, July 8, 2025:
Once we arrive in Reykjavik at 8:40am. We will board the Reykjavik Excursions FlyBus which will take us on a hour long ride to Reykjavik's BSI Bus Terminal. From here, we will walk down a few blocks to our one of the many local Hostels where we can check into our rooms, get ready for our hike the next day, then head off to do some site seeing and get dinner at a local restaurant. If you choose, you may purchase groceries and cook your own meal at the Hostel's kitchen. Be sure to be back early as we have to prepare for the next day's departure and get to bed early.

Wednesday, July 9, 2025:
We will rise bright and early, grab our packs and head over to BSI (Reykjavik's Bus Station), grabbing breakfast along the way. We will then hop the bus for a four hour ride to Landmannalaugar and the trail head. At Landmannalaugar, we will have a little time to see the sites and check out the shops before we have a quick bite to eat and head out onto the trail. The first leg of our journey will be a challenging one at a distance of 12km. Our day will end at Camp Hrafntinnusker, which is the highest point on the trail and the top of an extinct volcano. Be careful, the volcanic glass on the ground is very sharp!

Thursday, July 10, 2025:
Today is a short day, and downhill most of the day, which means we can sleep in a little and have a good camp breakfast. We will then begin our 12km trek to our next campsite at the Alftavatn Huts. Again you will have access to bathrooms and paid showers. As an added bonus, there is a small diner here with limited seating and a small menu. But after a tough day on the trail, you will be happy to have a great sandwich and bowl of soup. After dinner we will relax and head to bed early for the longer day ahead tomorrow. You may choose to use the public showers for a small fee.

Friday, July 11, 2025:
On this morning, we will get an early rise and start breakfast. After a good breakfast, we will pack up and head out on our 15km trek for the day. Finishing the day at the Emstrur Camp, again we will set up camp, and start dinner. After dinner, we will take some time to explore the nearby scenery and canyons. Be sure to get a good sleep, as our next days hike will be an16km trek.

Saturday, July 12, 2025:
We will start the day with a good camp breakfast. After breakfast will pack up camp and head out hiking towards Thorsmark and the end of the Laugavegur Trail. Along the way we will have to cross a wide river and then enjoy Ia few kilometers of hike through Iceland's only forest. At the end of the trail, we will get some time to relax and get a snack at the local shop while waiting for our bus. The bus will take us off road for 4 hours as we head back to BSI. Once we reach BSI, we will take a short walk back to our hostel, and enjoy a nice warm shower before heading out for dinner.

Sunday, July 13, 2025:
